Recruited by The Philadelphia Inquirer, I collaborate with audience, product, marketing and advertising departments on key strategic projects including site redesign, mobile app development, newsletters, subscriptions and membership.

Promoted to build and lead a team of digital editors embedded in desks across the state’s largest newsroom to identify opportunities and improve storytelling on a redesigned site encouraging deeper audience interaction and curation

Led editors to foster and evolve a dozen editorial newsletters, ensuring a clear strategy and defined audience for each, including the flagship morning newsletter

Worked with product, analytics, marketing and advertising departments on key projects including newsletter development, subscriptions, membership, lifting the meter as a public service, site redesign and app development

Deputy Managing Producer & Mobile Editor

April 2019 – Feb. 2021

As the first-ever Deputy Managing Producer & Mobile Editor, my focus was on upholding Inquirer standards and values across in-house news platforms, including inquirer.com and the app.

During breaking news, it meant working until the early hours of the morning creating and executing coverage plans and digital presentation.

I got to work on other things I care deeply about, too. I helped teach the newsroom to write better online headlines and implement best digital practices.

I also served on the style and mentorship committees and a workstream setting five-year goals for subscriptions and memberships. 

My day-to-day looked something like this:

Upheld Inquirer standards and values through daily dayparting and curation of inquirer.com and through quality control and design consistency across digital platforms

Managed about a dozen digital producers charged with keeping news and sports products fresh, lively, accurate, interesting and useful

Collaborated with editors, reporters, print coordinators, the audience team and the former innovation desk to plan online rollout of special projects, longforms and major event coverage

Created push-notification strategy based on data and overseeing pushes being sent

Identified opportunities to improve headlines, visuals and other story packaging

Troubleshooted problems with our site and CMS tools and working with systems, product and other departments to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution
